The Week Ahead at SPS

Maryland State House
Good morning from hazy, hot, and humid Washington! Today, students are headed to the Maryland State House ꟷ the oldest existing state house ꟷ to meet with Delegate Jim Gilchrist, who represents Montgomery County and is the Deputy Majority Whip.

The students will also continue working on their bills, as they look to secure sponsors and develop a press strategy to garner support for the bill.

For the Independence Day holiday, students will take in a baseball game at Nationals Park and go to a country carnival in the evening.

Students will also have the opportunity to hear from conservative columnist William Kristol, Politico journalist Daniel Lippman, and a number congressional staffers. Students may also elect to attend a "Ted trip" to meet the Mexican Ambassador to the United States at the Hudson Institute.

In preparation for next week's visit with Federal Reserve Vice Chair Randal Quarles, Mr. Eagles will teach a two-part economics seminar. Students will also read about the political and economic crisis in Venezuela, the proliferation of fake news and conspiracy theories, and climate change.

Stay tuned for updates and pictures!
