SPS 2013: Aiming High With the Pilot of Air Force One and the SPS Alumni Career Panel

Today was a day of aiming high and thinking about the future at the St. Albans School of Public Service.  This morning, we welcomed U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Michael Sundsted, one of the pilots of Air Force One, as a speaker.  SPS 2013 not only learned a little bit about the history of this most fascinating of aircraft, but heard Lt. Col. Sundsted's own inspirational story of his path to public service.  A 1989 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Lt. Col. Sundsted was initially rejected from the Academy and succeeded in gaining admission on his second try.

This evening, after a day of perspiration in the blazing DC heat, it was time for a little more inspiration, this time courtesy of some young alumni of the St. Albans School of Public Service who returned to SPS for the annual SPS Alumni Career Panel event.  The attendees were an impressive lot, including Katharine Kendrick of the State Department and Alex Pappas of the Daily Caller, and our students couldn't get enough of their stories, tips, and advice, keeping our guests chatting informally long after the panel had concluded.
