Our concert-goers in the Cathedral before the start of the concert |
Independence Day on the grounds of the Washington National Cathedral brings with it the special benefit of being in walking distance from a grand Washington, D.C. tradition: the National Cathedral's Annual Independence Day Organ Recital, featuring virtuoso vocal and organ performances of patriotic favorites. After a little high culture in the morning, it was time for another great tradition -- this one slightly more localized to the St. Albans School of Public Service -- the SPS Olympics, including the three-legged race (see video above)
and exciting egg toss! After a lunchtime cookout and some time to relax, we are off next to a country carnival in Frederick County, Maryland.
