A Relaxing Sunday at SPS 2014: A Beautiful Hike and Bowling a Strike

After two weeks of giving their brains a workout in classes, case studies, and simulations, it was time for another kind of workout.  This morning an intrepid group of 14 members of the SPS class of 2014 took part in the "SPS Billy Goat Challenge" -- a hike along the famed Billy Goat Trail (SECTION A all the way!) along the Potomac River.  (We were trying to bill this as the first ever Billy Goat Challenge, but our RA Brittany recalled hiking the Billy Goat Trail as part of the SPS class of 2006.)  This group proved as adept at rock hopping as they are at parsing cases, powering along the trail at an impressive pace and sharing a picnic before heading back to St. Albans.  The views were worth giving up the chance to sleep in until brunch!  (See short video clip above.)

Later in the day, the entire group headed over for a workout* (*generously defined) on the lanes: an afternoon of bowling at Pinstripes in Georgetown.  Tomorrow it's back to work, with classes in Economics and Public Speaking, and two optional "Ted Trips" to events at the Brookings Institution on Palestinian-Israeli relations and a speech at the Atlantic Council by NATO's Secretary-General on the future of the alliance.
