This afternoon the St. Albans School of Public Service is trying to negotiate a solution to a tense four-way standoff in the Falklands Islands . . . sort of. SPS is taking part in a foreign policy crisis simulation, in which the students play the part of negotiators for four different countries (Argentina, China, UK and the USA) as they attempt to resolve a crisis involving an Argentine splinter group's take-over of UK property in the Falklands. The situation has been complicated by the discovery of lucrative oil deposits off the Falklands, and all four nations are jockeying for control of the oil even as they attempt to foil the efforts of the others. See the photo slideshow below from each of the "situation rooms"!
